We live very busy lives behind the clutches of computer screens and social networking apps, we are drowning in our overactive minds and at times we suffer from craving and discontent, we begin to shut down and it feels as if we are sleep walking through life with hearts made of stone. Yet, with just one step towards the light you can return home to yourself and open up to the everyday miracles and vibrations of health that surround you. Every retreat we host is an offering to this sacred journey; Kat spaciously guides students of all levels, beliefs and backgrounds to flow back into the natural rhythm of vitality and happiness. 

Bilbao Yoga Retreats has been running for three years, offering both weekend and week-long retreats in the heart of the Basque Country in a beautifully restored French-style chalet family home, close to the ocean, mountains, the design-led city of Bilbao with easy bus links to San Sebastian, Biarritz, San Juan de Luz and Madrid. There are many tapas and wine bars close-by, cafes, pâtisseries, boutique fashion shops and coastal walks; an urban style retreat with lots to do and see. 

Your home for the weekend/week will be in a charming Casa on a tree-lined Calle located in the bourgeoisie residential area of Getxo, a ten-minute walk from the seafront, surrounded by nature where same sex communal living is embraced (private rooms also available). Healthy, homemade and yummy vegetarian meals will be served daily by our chef and you will practice yoga and meditation twice a day in our yoga studio, which is a scenic twenty minute walk from the house. 

In your free time you are invited to go with the flow — perhaps opting to swim in the ocean, sunbathe, explore the city or simply relax at home. You’ll leave the retreat smiling from within and feeling your stress lifted. The maximum sleeping capacity at the house is nine so please expect small, intimate and friendly groups (if you are looking for a larger group experience please check out our European retreat offerings). Please also be aware that we do not organise extra group activities, preferring to encourage freedom and space. We welcome all students of all levels and recommend a general level of fitness in order to enjoy the walk to the studio and Vinyasa-style yoga practices.


Sample Schedule

Wake to freshly made lemon and honey tea to help stimulate your digestion and homemade gluten free energy balls. In good weather this is served on the terrace with a view to the mountains.

08:30

Mindful walk by the ocean to the yoga studio, this walk is considered the key to good health in the Basque Country.

09:00–11.00

Meditation and pranayama followed by a dynamic yoga sequence and relaxation.

11:30

Big brunch is served back at the house.

13:00–17:00

Free time.

18:00-19.30

Evening yoga practice (this will vary in style from yin to restorative depending on the wishes of the group) followed by relaxation.

20:30

Dinner at the house.

21:30

Bedtime meditation (during weekend retreats on Friday evening, on other retreats it depends on the wishes of the group).

Accommodation

Upon arrival at the Casa complete with restored wooden-beamed ceilings, oak-wood flooring, roll-top bath tub, professional cook and friendly host and yogi, Kat, you will feel instantly welcome and relaxed. Choose from either shared accommodation in the downstairs communal living space or a private room in the main house upstairs: 

Upstairs 

1. A king size bed with private en suite bathroom including a walk-in shower, toilet and basin. An extra single bed can be added to this room. Price on request. 

2. A double bed with private en suite bathroom including a bathtub, shower, toilet and basin. An extra single bed can be added to this room. Price on request. 

Downstairs

1. The Snook which includes a double bed (suitable for singles or couples), library, bedside table, lamp and window to the gardens. 

2. The Princess Room which includes two singles beds, two bedside tables and two windows with views to the garden.

3. There is also a renovated basement area called The Grotto with either one or two beds available, both of which come with bedside table and lamps - the basement area does not have windows to the garden. 

The downstairs living area has been designed with the idea of community, connection and openness. Rather than using traditional wooden doors to separate the rooms Kat has used a selection of charming and bohemian drapes and curtains to enhance the vibe of friendship and freedom.

Weekend retreats are £350 all-inclusive of accommodation (shared room), food and yoga. Limited private and en-suite rooms available on request.

Please confirm your name and which retreat your deposit is for by adding a note on the Paypal checkout page, or by sending a message to Kat after checkout is complete (you will be directed to a contact page after payment is complete).   • Kindly note that an initial deposit of 50% is required upon reservation, paid via PayPal or bank transfer.

  • Balance payment is due 2 months before the beginning date. If you are booking last minute, as many of us do, payment is required in full.

  • Cancellation policy: For cancellation that takes place at least 1 month before the retreat, the whole deposit will be refunded and there are no cancellation fees.

  • For cancellation that takes place 28 days or less prior to the retreat, there is no refund.
