The Balmain Army
The #BalmainArmy is the fashion phrase on every pair of stylish lips this season thanks to the very beautiful, burgeoning creative-director, Oliver Rousteing, who can currently be found punking things up at the French fashion house. Despite the fact that Kim Kardashian debuted her platinum blonde hairdo on his Front Row in Paris during fashion month, it was Oliver’s actions that spoke louder than hers (he’s got his own one million Instagram followers after all), as he illuminated the stage with amazonian goddesses, warrior women; an international army built on spirit not stereotypes.
Victoria’s Secrets model, entrepreneur and mother-of-two Alessandra Ambrosia opened the show in a mustard floor length glamour gown swiftly followed by Adriana Lima, super cool and kooky mixed race teen Binx Walton, Mexican and Japanese model Issa Lish, Nigerian model of the moment Mayowa Nicholas, French beauty Cindy Bruna, Canadian blonde Jessica Stam and London IT girls Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson.
So what is it exactly that makes you fit for service with the Balmain troops, “It’s not about age, it’s not about colour, it’s not about countries - it’s about a confident woman who wants to feel strong.” Oliver told Vogue UK. “The women I dress are powerful, they are strong, they are women who are going to change the world.”
Some people may argue that they are only clothes but when they come wrapped in such positivity, open-mindedness and innovation one can only applaud the work or this inspiring young gentlemen.
