Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Right now I can’t touch/see my toes, can’t put my belly on the floor,
can’t stop my mind from racing, can’t fit into any of my clothes. I’m
having trouble breathing and I as for my digestion - it has officially
resigned - but at this stage (32 weeks pregnant) I am continually
reminded of the old and very important adage: where there is a will there is ALWAYS a way -
for you, for me, for all of us, whatever the situation may be.
know that the moment I give in to my excuses, just like little weeds
they will start to litter my mind and create dangerous pathways for the
future, so here I am finding any old way to keep my life anchor rooted
on the mat: elbows replace hands, heavy legs lift heavy legs and my breathing has become very
vocal - and this is all fine with me because do you know that every time we make an excuse to NOT do
something we are implanting false stories about ourselves into our
memory bank - and then bit by bit, they become your TRUTH!
In yoga we call these Samskaras, a samskara is a thought wave that arises in the mind and if you continue to open a space for negative thinking it creates a groove and sets up a very stubborn and hard to remove residence. Yep, that is how powerful your thoughts are, if you thought you could just keep thinking in a willy nilly fashion - sorry, you better think again as the Lord Buddha was right when he said “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” This is the concept I absolutely love the most about the whole yoga/spiritual tradition, the fact that I can change and create my life according to my thoughts is SO SO exciting and liberating.
There might be something you want/need to do or change in your life and you might find yourself making excuses time and time again - maybe something to do with your finances/job/anxiety patterns/relationships/health etc - well why not the next time you find yourself about to make an excuse replace that negative seed with a positive action. Like, I’ll look for a job next year to I’ll log onto my computer this evening and begin job hunting (then do it), I’ll start healthy eating in January to what could I cook that is healthy and yummy this very evening, I’ll visit my family when I’ve got more time to I’ll call my Mum tonight to arrange a visit this weekend, I’ve haven’t got enough money to I always have enough.
Give it a go and you’ll see that where there’s a will there’s always a way.
