About Kat
Kat Webster, E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500, YACEP®, is acclaimed by many of her students as, "one of the kindest and skilful teachers,” is an author, teacher, yoga educator and mentor. As a nurturing teacher, Kat has spent nearly twelve years sharing her study, knowledge, and experience. She is the founder of Grounded & Graceful, La Casa del Yoga and Bilbao Yoga Retreats and the author of two books, Finding my Light and My Yogi Cookbook. She has mentored many teachers and students worldwide and developed one of the most life-affirming and joyful yoga teacher trainings in northern Spain. Kat is known for her ability to translate ancient wisdom and make life-changing practices accessible to modern audiences. She is a wife and a mother to two amazing souls and a passionate heart-led leader dedicated to living with meaning, creativity and freedom.
Her yoga journey began while travelling around the world in 2007. Once back in London, in 2010, her dedication to practice soared to new heights; at the time, she was working for top fashion magazines, ELLE & InStyle, after graduating from Leeds University with a degree in English Literature. Yet Kat, after tasting the depths of her own heart in a studio in Primrose Hill, left her job in fashion and completed her first of many, Yoga Teacher Trainings with Yoga Haven in Morocco in 2012.
Following these initial studies, she returned to India to study Vinyasa Krama at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) in Chennai, to learn from the senior staff of the Father of Modern Yoga. She also continued her studies with many world-renowned teachers such as Rod Stryker in the field of Sequencing, Uma Dinsmore Tuli in Yoga Nidra, womb yoga and prenatal studies, alongside apprenticing with Tara Lee at the Life Centre in Notting Hill. Her young love of Buddhism also led her to train with a Spanish-based Buddhist school, where she enjoyed the power of silence, mindfulness and loving-kindness.
A relocation to the Basque Country in Spain led to an opportunity to open her first yoga studio in 2013 and meet her teacher, Simon Park. Kat began training on advanced vinyasa retreats, teacher trainings and workshops with Simon around Europe, finally completing her second teacher training with Liquid Flow after six years of dedicated study.
Later, while studying with Ram Dass and becoming an ambassador of the Ram Dass fellowship program, Kat started an international yoga mentorship program, inviting new teachers from around the globe to live and work with her at her home in Spain.
Kat’s teaching style
Kat’s ten years of practice finds a beautiful alchemy in her style: a mix of vinyasa, hatha, strength and compassion.
Bringing a simultaneous offering of strength and tranquility to her classes, Kat warmly encourages students to trust their innate power. Her main aim is to create a sacred space on the mat with strengthening and stabilising asanas (postures), dynamic prana flow (maximising the health benefits of the breath) and intelligent vinyasa sequences inspired by the Krishnamacharya lineage.
Classes always culminate in deeply meditative states in which students blissfully find themselves moving away from feelings of stress, discontentment and disconnection into the happiness of internal harmony, grace and elegance.
