“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” — Anne Lamott´´
It’s been seven months since I closed my studio, and nearly as long since I set down my own practice. Strange as it sounds, yoga was such an integral part of my life that I wanted to see who I was without it — so I stepped away from teaching, and from practising too.
Part of me looks back and wonders if that time was a quiet form of self-sabotage, because life without practice is not a life I want to live for long. And yet, there’s also a softer, more forgiving part of me that understands: sometimes life itself becomes the practice.
So, I unplugged. I turned my attention to the things I’d been putting off for far too long — relationships, finances, unfinished projects, and most recently, the transformation of my new Victorian-period property in the UK into a guest house. Built in 1888, it has been so beautiful to bring it back to life. It’s called Wild Heart House — it sleeps up to 11, sits beside the British coast, and is now open for group bookings (you can see more here).
But over the past month, something shifted. I’ve felt a deep craving to reconnect with the light inside, stronger than ever. I’ve been moving closer to the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, practising very gently, even relearning how to breathe. And it’s been… really lovely.
As I return to teaching, these guiding questions live in my heart:
How can I create an environment that helps people stay vital, radiant, and strong as we age, as we grow and change with the different seasons and demands of life?
How can I offer a practice that truly supports lasting happiness and wellbeing?
How can I create a practice that allows us to fully focus and turn inward?
How can I offer space to step away from the constant pull and push of life?
How can I guide students to reconnect with their own inner magic?
How can I create an offering that allows students to remain trusting and hopeful of life’s process, to stay enthusiastic and keep dreaming?
✨ With all this in mind, I’m so happy to be offering a very special class: Re-Love Your Practice on Wednesday 27th August.
This class will take place in the centre of Las Arenas, Getxo, in a beautiful and private atmosphere with space for a maximum of five students. It will be an intimate, soulful return — a chance to reconnect, breathe deeply, and remember why we fell in love with practice in the first place. You can book here, at the usual place.
Afterwards, I’ll be travelling to Crete at the beginning of September to reconnect with the place where I hosted my very first international yoga retreat. It’s such a special place for me, and I know that everything I’ve been missing, I’ll find within myself in those crystal waters.
I’ll be back mid-September and will send out the timetable and class details by email soon.
Honestly, it would mean the world to see you either at the Re-Love Your Practice class on Wednesday 27th August, or at one of my sessions later in September/October.
With love,
Kat 🤍
